Abstract
This Thematic Plan for Disaster Risk Management, in compliance with the contents of the Third Medium Term Plan (MTP III) of the Kenya Vision 2030, outlines the government commitment to incorporate risk management component in all plans to mitigate against natural and manmade disasters, including drought, floods, landslides, urban and forest fires, armed conflicts, human and animal diseases, pests, infrastructure collapse, and road accidents. The Thematic Plan identifies, during the plan period, 2018-2022, key programmes to be implemented and also provides a framework and guidance to other sectors and counties to reduce vulnerability among communities, and develop an effective multi-hazard early warning system and preparedness. The Thematic Plan enhances the public-private partnership as a mean through which the private sector will contribute to the financing and implementation of programmes and projects highlighted in the Plans.
