Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Natural Resources under section 116 of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013, makes provision with respect to conservation of protected water towers. "Water tower" means an area that acts as a receptacle for rain water and that stores water in the aquifers underneath it and gradually releases the water to the rivers and springs emanating from it. The Kenya Wildlife Service shall in consultation with the lead agencies spearhead the management of protected water towers and may utilise protected water towers for commercial purposes. An Advisory Committee with representation from the lead agencies, shall facilitate the joint management of protected water towers.
