Decision No. 334 of the Cabinet of Ministers establishing Council for Food Security and Nutrition.

The Council for Food Security and Nutrition is an advisory body, formed by the Cabinet of Ministers and created to quickly make decisions to ensure a stable and uninterrupted supply of food to the country and improve measures in the field of healthy nutrition for the national population. The goals of the Council are to ensure a stable and uninterrupted supply of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic with basic types of foodstuffs, taking into account the physiological needs of food, through the adoption of coordinated and prompt decisions by executive authorities. Tasks of the Council: (a) development of proposals on strategic directions for food security and increasing the export potential of domestic food production; (b) preparation of proposals for: - implementation of decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers on issues of food security and nutrition; - development of main directions, annual programs and long-term forecasts of food security and nutrition; - improving financial and tax policies aimed at ensuring food security; - development of effective measures to protect rural producers, including regulation of the export and import of agricultural raw materials, marketing of agricultural commodities and food;- ensuring an equal competitive environment through access to the food market for goods of subjects of all forms of ownership;- preventing a decrease in the achieved level of food security; - main directions of development of scientific and technical policy in the field of food security;- implementation of measures for the prevention and treatment of health disorders associated with insufficiency of microelements and vitamins in the nutritional structure of the population;- analyzing the necessary information and applying the results of the implemented activities;- implementation of measures taken to improve the quality and safety of foodstuffs; and (c) development and adoption of preventive measures to prevent risks to the country’s food security associated with changes in external and internal food markets.
