Abstract
The National Platform is a multilateral national mechanism designed to contribute to disaster risk reduction and protection of the population at all levels and in spheres of life of the Kyrgyz Republic. Serves as a multi-stakeholder national coordination and governance mechanism for disaster risk reduction to address interrelated social, economic and environmental issues arising from natural, man-made and climate-related disaster risk factors. The National Platform is a national advisory and consultative body implementing a unified state policy in the field of disaster risk reduction, guided by the head of the authorized state body in the field of civil protection. The scope of the National Platform is strategic leadership and coordination in the field of disaster risk reduction in the Kyrgyz Republic. Objectives of the National Platform: (a) development and coordination of policies in the field of disaster risk reduction; (b) development and implementation of strategic research in the field of disaster risk reduction; (c) forecasting and assessment of the socio-economic consequences of the risk of disasters and emergency situations; (d) development of effective mechanisms for the exchange of best practices, ways and opportunities at the national, local and international levels; (e) adoption of programs, medium-term development plans, road maps aimed at reducing disaster risk; and (f) organizing work to involve all stakeholders in disaster risk reduction activities.
