Decree No. 8 of the Chief Sanitary Inspector validating Sanitary rules and regulations “Management of radioactive waste (SPORO-2000)”.

This Decree shall be applicable to enterprises, institutions, laboratories, ministries and departments that use radioactive substances and sources of ionizing radiation, and also to entities carrying out transportation and burial of radioactive waste. The provisions of this Decree contain requirements for ensuring radiation safety in the process of collection, temporary storage, transportation and burial of radioactive waste that is formed in the process of use of radioactive substances in various branches of national economy with a view of protecting public health and environment. Radioactive waste shall be classified as solid and liquid. Burial of radioactive waste in provisional burial sites shall be prohibited.
