Decree of the State Committee on Environmental Protection validating the Regulation on protection of surface water.

This Decree establishes rules and regulations for protection of surface waterbodies against pollution, clogging and exhaustion, with a view of ensuring favourable conditions for water management and ecological well-being. All the surface waterbodies located on the national territory shall be subject to mandatory protection. This Decree regulates water abstraction, effluent wastewater discharge, drainage water and sewerage. The Act consists of 6 Sections: (1) general provisions; (2) water quality standards; (3) water protection in the course of economic activities; (4) planning; (5) supervision over water protection arrangements by water managers; and (6) liability.
