Governmental Decree No. 189 validating the Regulation on the procedure for establishing protection zones, their dimensions, regime of use of land allotted for these purposes, and protection of land of railway transport within the limits of allotted right of way.

This Governmental Decree regulates the issues of for determining land area, regime of land tenure of protection zones and protection regime of land of railway transport within the limits of right of way in order to ensure safe operation of the participants of the transportation process. Protection zones of railway transport land are established to ensure the safety of the population and the safe operation of railway infrastructure facilities, the safety, strength and stability of structures, devices and other railway transport facilities in places prone to landslides, flooding, erosion, mudslides and the emergence of mobile sands and other dangerous impacts on land plots adjacent to the lands of the railroad right of way. Protection zones are classified as industrial, transport, communications, energy, defense and other lands. In order to mitigate the negative impact on buildings and structures for housing and civil purposes, sanitary protection zones are established.
