Governmental Decree No. 73 validating the Regulation on the Department of organic agriculture subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyz Republic.

This Governmental Decree establishes that Department of organic agriculture subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyz Republic shall be authorized state institution promoting organic agriculture with a view of increasing ecological production of agricultural commodities and promoting introduction of advanced technologies in the field of organic agriculture in Kyrgyz Republic. The scope of the Department shall be to increase export of organic agricultural production. The objectives of the Department shall be implementation of state policy in the field of organic agriculture and performance of interdepartmental coordination in the field of agricultural production. The Department shall perform the following functions: (a) establishment, jointly with scientific research institutions, of priority directions of scientific research in the field of organic agriculture and agricultural biotechnologies; (b) development of innovative agricultural biotechnologies for organic agriculture; (c) elaboration of national standards for organic agriculture; (d) elaboration of certification system for organic agriculture; (e) development and application of biofertilizers; (f) development of rules and regulations for packaging, labelling, import and export of organic agricultural commodities; and (g) registration of organic agricultural land and producers of organic agricultural commodities.
