Governmental Decree No. 840 validating the Regulation on setting up public fund “Nature Development Fund”.

This Governmental Decree validates the Statute of public fund “Nature Development Fund”, a non-governmental entity pursuing social, charitable, cultural, educational and other socially useful non-commercial objectives. The founder of the Fund is the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Fund performs its activities in close cooperation with government agencies, natural and legal entities of the Kyrgyz Republic and foreign states. The activities of the Fund are based on the principles of voluntariness, self-government, legality, publicity and transparency. The objectives of the Fund shall be as follows: (a) financing environmental projects aimed at improving the state of the environment, which should contain project, estimates, technical documentation with a list of tasks, actions and activities aimed at creating or improving an infrastructure facility with justification of the environmental effect; (b) support of ecological and natural well-being, development of the potential for environmental protection in the territory adjacent to the Kumtor mine and throughout the Kyrgyz Republic, promoting the efficient use of the natural resources at the national level; (c) organization of charitable and humanitarian activities, the provision of grants for purposes that meet the statutory goals of the Fund, as well as funding for research, support and educational activities; (d) work on the restoration of natural objects disturbed by the economic activity, the holding of contests, seminars, conferences and round tables on the issues of environmental protection and ensuring environmental safety; (e) interaction and cooperation with local communities, public organizations, charitable foundations, international, commercial and private organizations, as well as government bodies and local government of the Kyrgyz Republic and other foreign countries to achieve the statutory goals of the Foundation; and (f) implementation of other activities aimed at achieving the statutory goals that do not contradict the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
