Law of the Republic of Kyrgystan on Water.

This Law constitutes the basic instrument for the regulation of management and conservation of water resources in the Republic of Kyrgystan. Other legislation of the Republic of Kyrgystan shall be adopted in accordance with the present Law (art. 2).
The 71 articles are divided into 9 Chapters, i.e.: General principles (I); Management and regulation of water relations (II); Water use (III); Economic mechanisms of water use (IV); Protection of the water fund and of water economy installations (V); State control and accounting of the use of water (VI); Settlement of water disputes (VII); Liability for the violation of water legislation (VIII); International cooperation in the field of water relations (IX).
All water objects occupying land, including those intended for water protection zones and strips and concentrated in water resources form the state water fund of the Kyrgyz Republic (art. 4, first part). The right of ownership of the water fund within the state territory is vested in the Khogorku Kinish of the Republic (art. 5, second part). Competences of the Khogorku Kinish are set out in article 10.
