Ministerial decree No. 40 validating the Regulation on biosphere reserve “Ysysk-Kel”.

Biosphere reserve “Ysysk-Kel” shall be considered protected area created for the following purposes: (a) conservation, reproduction and use of natural ecosystems and cultural heritage; (b) sustainable management and land use planning with a view of reproduction of natural resources; (c) ecological monitoring, research and education. Biosphere reserve “Ysysk-Kel” shall carry out the following functions: (a) preservation of natural landscapes, ecosystems, species and genetic biodiversity; (b) long-term research and environmental monitoring; (c) environmental planning; (d) access to information on natural resources and exchange of information. Any economic activity shall be prohibited in the central part of biosphere reserve. Sport and artisanal hunting, and also sport fishing shall be authorized as part of traditional community nature management.
