Presidential Decree No. 172 “On the introduction of a moratorium on commercial fishing on lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul”.

The President, in order to preserve and increase fish stocks in state fishery reservoirs of the Kyrgyz Republic, imposes a temporary ban (moratorium) for three years on commercial fishing, transportation, sale, storage, acquisition and export of all types of fish living on lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul, with the exception of fishing for the purposes of: (a) organization and conduct of recreational and sport fishing; (b) carrying out approved annual planned work on artificial reproduction of fish stocks; and (c) carrying out research activities and ichthyological monitoring of the state of fish stocks.
