Abstract
The purpose of this Regulation (Prakas) is to eliminate illegal actions in establishing slaughterhouses and in conducting businesses related to the slaughtering of animals in order to ensure quality, safety and meat hygiene so as to prevent the spread of animal diseases, and to protect public health and the environment.
The Regulation provides for permits and application forms for the establishment and operation of slaughterhouses. The permits for establishing slaughterhouses shall be valid for a period of five years. The permit can be extended in the event that the owner of the slaughterhouse has properly complied with technical standards, contracts, internal rules, standard letters and applicable laws. The permit for operating a slaughtering business shall be valid for one year commencing from the date of the issuance of the permit. Procedures to be followed to apply for permits are provided for in the Regulation.
