ThisStrategic Action Plan (SAP) Stung Chinit River Basin 2020-2025 is a sectoral policy document at the provincial level. The long-term general objective for the SAP is established as: to promote the sustainable development in the Stung Chinit River Basin with particular emphasis on water security and protection of biodiversity through the implementation of interventions and established mechanisms for institutional coordination, data management, knowledge sharing and inclusive participation of all actors in the basin.
The SAP long-term objective is supported by five objectives describing outcomes of water for heath and sanitation, water for agriculture, water for the environment, water for climate resilience and basin Committee institutions. To achieve the objectives, priority actions have been identified, including: Improve access to WASH and water supply service delivery; Improve sanitation and waste management; Improve Reservoir and Water Infrastructure and Operations and Maintenance for the Stung Chinit Irrigation System; Promote agricultural best management practices and safe use of agrochemicals; Promote Forest Conservation and Restoration in Upstream Areas; Promote Downstream Fisheries Development and Conservation; Strengthen local capacity for disaster risk management (DRM); Strengthen preparedness, response and recovery from droughts and floods; Strengthen the capacity of the SC-RBMC Secretariat and member institutions; Improve data collections systems; etc.
