Abstract
This Sub-Decree provides for the establishment of a National Committee for Managing Climate Change which shall prepare, coordinate and follow-up the implementation of policies, strategies, plans and programs of the Royal Government aimed at meeting issues to prevent any climate change in the country, and to protect the environment and national resources.
The Sub-Decree defines the Committee’s internal organization, and roles and duties including: develop draft policies, strategies, legal systems, plans and programs concerning climate change including national plans for reducing the release of gas from glass houses; promote and encourage wide participation from all relevant parties in effectively developing climate change policies, plans programs, etc.; raise and collect necessary resources, particularly grants, for developing climate change strategies, plans, etc.; be un charge of managing and coordinating work relating to the clean development mechanism of the Tokyo Protocol in Cambodia; promote education, awareness, training and dissemination of information to the public on climate change; examine and adopt work plans and reports of the Climate Change Technical Team which shall be established in compliance with the provisions of this Sub-Decree; and strengthen and develop national and international cooperation concerning climate change.
