Abstract
The principal object of this Ordinance, which passed the House of Assembly, is to provide for a new framework for the promotion and development of fishing particularly with a view to proposals to extend fisheries limits to 200 nautical miles.
The Ordinance is divided into five Parts: General, definitions, territorial sea, powers of the Minister (I); Licensing of vessels, fishing by foreigners, licences for fish processing establishments (II); Enforcement measures, authorized officers (III); Offences and legal proceedings (IV); Miscellaneous; powers of Minister, research, protection of fish (V).
