Importation of Animals Regulations, 1965 (L.N. No. 27).

Regulations to control the importation of animals and animal-related products into Kiribati for purposes of preventing the spreading of diseases and pests and other purposes.
Importation of animals or animal manure, fodder, litter, etc. is absolutely prohibited unless done in accordance with provisions of the present Regulations. Regulation 3 defines the application sphere of these Regulations. Regulation 4 appoints ports of entry. Importation requires a written permission to be obtained from the Agricultural Officer, provided that this shall not apply to animals intended for immediate slaughter. Regulation 7 concerns the importation of equines, whereas regulation 9 concerns documents to accompany imported cattle. Regulation 10 concerns the importation of swine, whereas undomesticated animals (defined in regulation 2) shall be imported subject to conditions set out in regulation 12. Regulation 12 provides for the importation of poultry and regulation 13 for the importation of eggs for incubation. Regulations 14 and following deal with procedures in the case of unauthorized importation or importation of prohibited animals. (25 regulations completed by two Schedules).
