Abstract
The National Implementation Plan for Persistent Organic Pollutants is a national policy with a multi-sectoral approach. The overall purpose of this policy is to eliminate the production and use of the most persistent and toxic chemicals that have adverse impacts on human health and the environment in accordance with the Stockholm Convention. The 28 POPs chemicals and groups of chemicals managed under the Convention include pesticides, industrial chemicals and unintentionally produced POPs.
This Plan addresses the impacts of ambient concentrations of POPs and other relevant substances such as non- POP pesticides (including PCBs) in the fields of air, land, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, the environment, climate change, waste management, recycling, biodiversity, wildlife, food, energy supply, renewable energy, water management, sanitation, animal health, and human health.
