Abstract
This Act amends the Public Utilities Ordinance (Cap.83): in section 17 by deleting the words, "....after consultation with the Minister."; and in section 33 by including the following subsection: "(4) Any policy directions given to the Board by the Minister pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be in writing and addressed to the Secretary of the Board."
The purpose of this Act is to pursue the objectives of independence and autonomy of the Public Utilities Board in accordance with the terms and conditions of the money’s advanced to the Republic of Mauritius pursuant to the loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank.
