Abstract
This Act, consisting of 36 articles and divided into five Parts, defines criminal offences of corrupt conduct and provides for the creation of the office of a Special Prosecutor to receive complaints and investigate cases of corruption in the country. The Act defines the following objects: establishing the types of corrupt conduct that should be criminalised; creating a dedicated Special Prosecutor’s Office to receive complaints, investigate and prosecute persons participating in corruption in the public sector; ensuring that all persons in public life are subject to measures that promote integrity; encouraging and facilitating the reporting of corrupt activities. Matters covered by the Act include: appointment of the Special Prosecutor and specification of its functions; appointment of attorneys-at law; appointment of investigators, and administrative staff; funds for the Special Prosecutor; administrative arrangements; prevention of corrupt conduct and related offences; duty to report cases of corruption; special offences.
