Abstract
This National Security Strategy outlines the vision, threats, goals and implementation of the national security Policy within the territory of Saint Kitts and Nevis, taking those actions that are necessary to ensure the safety, security and stability of the nation and its interest, in order to promote sustainable and economic development of the country. The Strategy identifies the threats to the national security in the following sectors and fields: organised crime and illicit trafficking of arms and drugs; corruption, financial crimes and money laundering; human trafficking and illegal migration; health security; food and water security; natural disasters and environmental degradation, such as hurricanes, floods, droughts; climate change. In order to address these challenges, the Strategy sets out the following goals and objectives: strengthening the capacity and effectiveness of the national security agencies; enhancing the coordination and collaboration among the national security stakeholders; increasing the resilience and preparedness to natural disasters and environmental challenges; improving measures to protect water catchment; strengthening education measures and programmes for farmers, for an acceptable use of pesticides and the care of the environment.
