Abstract
This Ordinance empowers the authorised officers to acquire land for public purposes. The Ordinance concerns: acquisition of land and declaration of the Governor-General; preliminary notification and power to enter land; power to set out boundaries of the land intended to be taken; demarcation of land and issue of notice of acquisition; power to require information on land; appointment and powers of the Board of assessment, including inquiry by the Board and related procedures; rules for assessment of compensation; absentee owners; special provisions in case the land is comprised in a lease; compensation to persons interested in adjacent land; payment of compensation.
