Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to contribute to improving the quality of life and to creating a sustainable water circulation system by contributing to the promotion of the water industry by providing a framework for the systematic development of water management technologies.
The Act outlines various responsibilities of the State, local governments, and public water utilities in formulating policies, implementing technological innovations, and promoting cooperation for the development of water management technologies. The Act also provides for the development and implementation of the Master Plan for Development of Water Management Technologies and for Promotion of Water Industry. The master plan shall include: 1. Basic direction-setting and objectives of the development of water management technologies and of the promotion of the water industry; 2. Analysis of domestic and foreign environment of water management technologies and the water industry; 3. Measures to incorporate water management technologies with a sustainable water circulation system; 4. Training of specialists in the field of water management and creation of jobs; etc.
Additionally, the Act supports the expansion of small and medium enterprises in foreign markets through projects such as market research, technology exchange, and the acquisition of international certification, test bed trials in foreign countries and the international standardization of technologies. Furthermore, the Act encourages the establishment of cooperation systems to expedite the development and dissemination of excellent water-related products and technologies. It also provides preferential support to local governments in projects subsidized by the National Treasury.
