Abstract
This Act provides for the prevention of natural disasters, the restoration of disaster-hit areas, and other counter measures to preserve the national land.
The State shall develop and implement a master plan aimed at preventing natural disasters. The Act lays down measures to be taken in order to prevent natural disasters which shall include: the development of a master plan to reduce damage caused by storm and floods; countermeasures against earthquakes and sea waves, snow-caused disasters, droughts; development of a disaster prevention information system and a plan to cope with emergencies; development and implementation of plans to restore disaster hit areas. The Act further provides for: the establishment of the Disaster Information System and the Central and Regional Emergency Support System; formulation and implementation of Disaster Recovery Plans; promotion of research and development projects for preventing natural disasters; penalties; etc.
