Abstract
This Act aims at promoting rights and interests of forest managers, strengthening the competitiveness of forestry and developing underdeveloped mountain villages through structural improvement of forestry in order to contribute to enhancing the quality of life for residents in mountain villages and promoting the balanced development of national land.
The Administrator of the Korea Forest Service shall formulate and implement policies necessary to increase productivity in forest industry, promote efficient management of private forests, and to improve the distribution structure of forest products including the establishment and operation of forest product distribution facilities. The Administrator shall also provide support necessary for combined management of forests, for education, training, etc. on forest management, and for forest product processing business.
The Act provides for the production and distribution management of special forest products. The Act sets out provisions on quality inspection, quality labelling, certification of quality application fees, etc.
The Act further provides for the designation of forestry promotion zones and for the development of mountain villages.
