Abstract
This Act provides for matters concerning the conservation, use and management of forestry culture and forest resources for recreation.
The State and a local government shall establish and implement policies for the promotion of forestry culture and recreation and shall ensure that the conservation and use of resources for forestry culture and recreation shall be in balance and harmony. The Minister of the Korea Forest Service shall establish and implement a basic plan for forestry culture and recreation for forests all over the country. The Minister shall also develop and disseminate educational programmes and courses on forestry culture and recreation.
The Act provides for the designation and development of natural recreation forests. The Minister of the Korea Forest Service and the heads of local governments shall conduct regular safety inspections of natural recreation forests.
The Act further provides for the development, preservation and management of mountain trails necessary to facilitate the use of forests and for the safety of users. The Minister of the Korea Forest Service may formulate and implement a basic plan for creating and managing forest paths for forests across the country by type of forest paths.
Furthermore, the Act provides for the designation and management of cultural assets in forests and for penalties.
