Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to improve the quality, production efficiency and technology for mining and manufacturing industrial products and services related to industrial activities by establishing and disseminating appropriate and rational industrial standards and supporting quality management and to promote simple and fair transaction and rationalized consumption, thereby enhancing industrial competitiveness and developing the national economy. An Industrial Standards Council shall be established within the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy. The Council shall deliberate on the following matters and provide advice to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy: Matters necessary for the formulation, amendment, and abolition of industrial standards under Article 5; Matters necessary for confirmation as to whether industrial standardization is appropriate under Article 10; Matters concerning designation of mining and manufacturing products under Article 15; Matters concerning designation of services under Article 16; Other matters related to industrial standardization determined by Presidential Decree.
