Abstract
This National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance (2016-2020) is a multi-sectoral policy document. The overall goal is: By 2020, significant progress will have been made in reducing the use of antimicrobials and use them appropriately, blocking the spread of resistant microbials, safely protecting the public from antimicrobial resistance.
The Action Plan has proposed 6 main areas and identified key tasks for each area. 1. Appropriate use of antimicrobials : Developing and disseminating antimicrobial use guidelines; Appropriate use of antimicrobials in the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors; etc. 2. Prevent the spread of resistant microbials: Improving treatment environments vulnerable to infection; Supporting infection control at medical institutions; Preventing the spread of resistant microbials in the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors; etc. 3. Strengthening the surveillance system: Strengthening the surveillance system in the agricultural, livestock, fisheries and environmental sectors; Strengthening monitoring of antimicrobial usage; etc. 4. Improve awareness: Improving awareness among the general public; Improving awareness among antimicrobial users (doctors, veterinarians, producers, etc.); Periodically conducting antimicrobial awareness surveys. 5. Expansion of infrastructure and R&D: Establishment of a pan-ministerial promotion system; Establishment of a web-based antimicrobial portal system; Strengthening strategic R&D investment to respond to resistant microbials; Improvement of systems to support the development of treatments for resistant microbials. 6. Activating international cooperation: Strengthen international cooperation to resolve antimicrobial resistance; Review measures to secure global financial resources.
