Abstract
This Resolution consisting of 11 articles aims at regulating import and export of fish, shrimp and other marine resources. It establishes that companies, establishments and individuals licensed to import and export fish and crustaceans are allowed to import them, fresh, frozen, and processed, whether harvested or farmed, only with the prior permission of the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF). The Resolution (i) prohibits to export fish and crustaceans taken from Kuwaiti territorial waters in fresh, chilled, frozen or processed form with the exceptions listed in art.3; (ii) gives rules to re-export imported fish and crustaceans; (iii) requires a permit from the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources to import and export living marine organisms and parts of them contained in the CITES Convention; (iv) attributes to the PAAF the right to allow import and export of fishery resources and marine organisms for some purposes, such as scientific and biological studies, museum exhibits, commercial samples, and personal consumption, provided that the total consignment does not exceed 21 kg; and (v) permits the marketing of fish resources in the free zones according to the rules governing the work in the free zones in the State of Kuwait except for the locally produced fish resources that are subjected to the controls mentioned in the articles of this Resolution.
