Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Turkmenistan on protection, reproduction and management of saiga antelope (Saiga tatarica tatarica).

The Parties in the territories of their states independently, on the basis of standards of national legislations of their states, implement measures related to protection, reproduction and sustainable use of saiga antelope (Saiga tatarica tatarica). The prohibition or restriction of hunting or capture of saiga is allowed in accordance with national laws of the Parties and international treaties to which they are parties. If in the country of one of the Parties saigas are specially protected species, and in the country of the other Party hunting and capture of saigas is not prohibited, the Parties adopt agreed decision providing for monitoring of the condition of saiga populations, and on this basis, establish measures for the protection, reproduction and sustainable use of saiga. Each Party will, in order to conserve saigas and their habitats, in every possible way promote the creation of specially protected natural territories and ensuring the appropriate regime of their protection. The Parties will take measures to further improve the national legislation for contrasting offences in the field of protection, reproduction and sustainable use of saigas.
