Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China on the development of research cooperation on transboundary rivers.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Water Resources of the People's Republic of China, in order to further develop and strengthen good neighborly friendly relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China, have agreed to jointly develop scientific research and technical exchange in the field of use and protection of transboundary rivers. The Parties shall develop exchange and cooperation on transboundary rivers in the following areas: (a) development of the exchange of techniques and criteria for hydrological observations, joint study of ways to improve the accuracy of observations and measurements in winter; (b) development of the exchange of methods for hydrological analysis and volume estimation of water resources; (c) study of unified methods for assessing water quality, developing cooperation on hydrochemical control and technical exchange on monitoring water quality in the laboratory; (d) deployment of studies of trends in volumes and quality of water; (e) development of research on the evolution of aquatic ecosystems; and (f) other studies agreed by the Parties. The Parties shall cooperate in the following forms: (a) joint research; (b) exchange of visits of scientists and experts; (c) exchange of publications; and (d) other forms of cooperation as agreed by the Parties.
