Abstract
The border representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan and of the People’s Republic of China, for the purpose of the development of friendly and good relationship in the field of mutually beneficial use and implementation of a rational watershed of transboundary water resources of the rivers Sumbe and Kayshibulak have concluded this agreement on the following: (a) to constitute joint water commission for the management of transboundary water resources; and (b) to organize sessions of the commission – annual first meeting in the third decade of May and subsequent meetings – monthly until the end of irrigation season. The amount of water used by the two Parties is determined in a ratio of not more than 50 x 50. The Parties shall mutually inform about all ongoing work on construction of hydro-regulatory or other structures affecting the overall level waters of transboundary rivers. The Parties shall carry out joint work to prevent impacts or eliminate consequences of floods, mudflows and other natural phenomena.
