Government Resolution No. 332 validating and ratifying the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the prevention and extinguishing of natural fires in border areas.

The Parties establish a zone of mutual protection of forest and steppe areas from fires, which will include a 5-kilometer wide strip on the territory of the state of each Party from the State Border line between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyz Republic. Responsible for the implementation of this Agreement are: (a) from the Kazakh side – Committee of Forestry and Wildlife subordinated to the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, local executive bodies; from the Kyrgyz side – Forest Service under the Ministry of Agriculture Kyrgyz Republic, local executive bodies. The Parties: (a) ensure control over the prevention of natural fires, coordinate and implement measures to prevent and eliminate natural fires in border area; (b) take measures to organize the extinguishing of natural fires in the territory their states, including in the border zone, in order to prevent their spread across the State border into the territory of another state of the Parties; (c) organize training courses for employees of both Parties on prevention and elimination of natural fires; (d) organize and conduct interstate exercises on interaction in occurrence of transboundary fires; and (e) exchange information within the framework of this Agreement.
