Abstract
"Healthy Lifestyle" program for 2008-2016 is multi-sectoral nationwide policy document with the scope of improving health of the population and increasing life expectancy.
The objectives of "Healthy Lifestyle" program for 2008-2016 shall be as follows: (a) promotion of healthy lifestyles, development of health potential of the population and information of the health improvement; and (b) creating a comprehensive, continuous and sustainable system for shaping a healthy way of life.
Expected results of the Program shall be as follows: (a) increase of life expectancy of the population to 71, 3 years; (b) increase of consumption of fruits and vegetables up to 24,6%; (c) reduction of the overweigh up to 29, 3%; and (d) increase up to 73% breastfeeding of infants up to 6 months of age.
The Program shall be performed in three stages: (a) the first stage (2008-2010) envisages the active involvement of all sectors with a view of addressing the tasks of an integrated approach to the prevention of specific socially significant diseases and risk factors. The primary health care will shift its priorities from the treatment of sick people to the prevention of diseases and health promotion; (b) the second phase (2011-2013) will focus on an integrated, multifactorial approach aimed at addressing the major health risk factors; and (c) the third phase (2014-2016) will achieve the integration of the entire society in the development of health potential, focusing on the root causes of diseases; the national health policy and the direction of health sector activities will be focused on health of the "healthy", the development of the individual's health potential with the active participation of the population itself.
