Abstract
This Methodology for conducting a comprehensive environmental survey of the territories adjacent to the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site that were subject to excess radioactive contamination as a result of nuclear weapons testing determines the mechanism for conducting a comprehensive environmental survey of the territories adjacent to the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, subjected to excessive radioactive contamination due to nuclear weapons testing. The work on a comprehensive environmental survey of adjacent territories includes: (a) general characteristics of the survey area; (b) assessment of the radiation state of the environment; (c) calculation of radiation doses; (d) predictive assessment of the state of the radiation situation in the survey area; and (e) identification of territories that pose a radiation hazard to the population, where it is necessary to carry out measures to eliminate the consequences of nuclear weapons tests, and territories that do not pose a radiation hazard to the population. The performer of work on a comprehensive environmental survey of adjacent territories is a legal entity or natural person who has the appropriate licenses in the field of nuclear energy use.
