Abstract
This is nationwide multi-sectoral policy document setting forth the goal of reducing maternal and infant mortality by introduction of modern approaches with proven effectiveness in the field of maternal and child health protection. It sets forth the following objectives: (a) improvement and implementation of regulatory and legal acts regulating maternal and infant health with the consideration of international approaches; (b) introduction of criteria for rational planning in the field of maternal and infant health care, and regionalization of perinatal healthcare assistance; (c) advanced training and retraining of personnel in the field of maternal and infant health care sphere, taking into account the technologies to be introduced, with a focus on primary medical care; (d) improvement of the material and technical base of obstetrical and pediatric institutions; (e) improving interaction and continuity of health care services to ensure quality medical care for women and children; (e) development of inter-sectoral and inter-agency cooperation related to maternal and child health care; and (f) raising public awareness of effective approaches to maternal and child health care.
