Abstract
This Ministerial Decree, implementing provisions of the the Law on animal husbandry and veterinary medicine no. 08/SPO of 2016, defines principles and measures regarding management, monitoring and inspection of the work of slaughtering animals, destroying animal carcasses in order to control the outbreak of animal diseases and compensate the animal owners following the damage caused by killing and destroying animal carcasses. According to the Decree, the definition of animal include cows, buffaloes, pigs, sheep, goats, domestic animals, aquatic animals and other animals that may be infected with animal diseases; red zone refers to the area where there is an outbreak of animal disease. The Decree prescribes that the killing and slaughtering of animals must respect animal welfare and the protection of the environment. The Decree concerns: conditions of animals to be killed; characteristics of animal carcasses; reports on animal slaughter and destruction of animal carcasses; valuation of killed and destroyed animals and conditions of compensation; special task force to control the outbreak and the spread of animal diseases.
