Abstract
This Decree, implementing provisions of the Law on Forestry no. 64/NA of 2019 and of the Law on Wildlife and Aquatic Resources no. 07/NA of 2007, defines principles and measures regarding the management, monitoring and supervision of international trade of aquatic animals, wild animals and wild plants endangered of extinction, in order to prevent their smuggling and illegal trade and the sustainable use of natural resources aiming at the socio-economic development of the country. Matters covered by the Decree include: requirements to manage international trade of wild and domesticated species, including respect of international conventions’ provisions; hunting limitation; animal health certification and plant sanitary certificate; inspection; powers and duties of the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, including: development of policies and strategic plans concerning the international trade of endangered species; rights and obligations of local governments and other interested parties; penalties for misconduct.
