Abstract
This amended Law defines the principles, regulations, and measures for managing and monitoring medicine and medical products in Laos. Its primary objective is to ensure that all such products meet high standards of quality, safety, and effectiveness while remaining affordably priced for all citizens.
The Law supports the development of a modern domestic pharmaceutical industry to reduce reliance on imports and promote international integration. It mandates strict monitoring of pharmacological properties to ensure generic medicines perform similarly to original formulas. The state commits to providing budgets, infrastructure, and human resource development to strengthen the medical sector and promote domestic production for export.
