Ministerial Order No. 0372 on the Implementation and Expansion of Eco-Agricultural Techniques in Agricultural and Forestry Production for Effective Results.

This Ministerial Order mandates the systematic adoption of agroecology techniques, specifically "Semi-direct seeding on mulch" (SCV), to enhance agricultural and forestry productivity across the Lao PDR. The initiative is driven by the need to protect vital natural resources—such as soil, water, and forests—while increasing yields in rice and crop cultivation. By shifting toward these sustainable methods, the government seeks to reduce production costs, prevent soil erosion, and transition toward chemical-free agricultural goods.
Specifically, the Order directs the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) to collaborate with extension services to provide technical training and establish demonstration plots for the 2005–2006 production season. Provincial and district offices are instructed to disseminate these techniques to farmers through public media and educational study tours to existing trial sites. Furthermore, authorities are required to report progress to local administrations and the Ministry to ensure the broad and effective expansion of these sustainable farming practices nationwide.
