Abstract
This Prime Minister’s Order establishes a high-level national mandate to combat illegal wildlife and wild plant trade while strengthening biodiversity conservation. It addresses the urgent need to protect endangered species and fulfill international obligations, ensuring sustainable natural resource management aligns with national socio-economic goals.
The Order strictly prohibits the hunting, breeding, and trading of endangered species listed under the CITES convention and national protection categories. It mandates the closure of illegal wildlife markets and orders the immediate cessation of commercial farming for tigers and other prohibited animals intended for trade.
Specifically, the Order tasks the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry with reforming management and scientific authorities (CITES MA/SA). It empowers local officials to conduct inspections and prosecute violators under criminal law to dismantle trafficking networks effectively.
