Decree No.249 of 2012 concerning the mechanism of giving certificates of origin for locally produced agricultural products prepared for export of plant origin.

This Decree consisting of 8 articles aims at regulating the mechanism to issue the certificate for locally produced agricultural products prepared for export in order to harmonize the rules adopted. It establishes that the certificate of origin of locally produced agricultural products shall be given at the request of the exporter to one of the concerned bodies. The certificate of Lebanese origin shall be given to fresh, chilled, temporarily preserved or dried vegetable products (art.3 lists the products in details). The Certificate of Origin for a group of commodities, such as garlic, grains and legumes, is issued by the competent regional department after conducting inspections to verify their origin.
