Abstract
This Resolution consisting of 5 articles aims to give added value to traditional Lebanese food products in order to contribute to the revival of heritage and to support and strengthen the Lebanese economy and rural communities. The Resolution establishes a National Committee for Traditional Food Products chaired by the Minister of Agriculture. Its members include representatives of non-governmental organizations and/or active agricultural cooperatives. main tasks of the Committee are (i) development of concerned legislation; (ii) coordination with the agencies working in the field, participating in meetings and reviewing the agreements related to this sector; (iii) proposal of a mechanism for the survey of traditional products geographical indications or designation of origin; (iv) creation of a database for the classification and use of traditional local goods; (v) proposal of ways to preserve local labels for Lebanese products; and (vi) studying methods of supporting the traditional agricultural sector and contributing to its development.
