Abstract
This updated NWSS is aligned with the National Water Sector Strategy of 2012. It takes into account the adoption of the Water Code (Law 77/2018) and its structuring principles, which are in turn in line with the water sector structure as defined by Law 221/2000 and its amendments. The new Strategy consists of VI Volumes, of which this is Volume V concerning the Proposed projects.
The volume is divided into two sections (1) Section A on the proposed projects gives a list, with cost estimates, of the proposed projects, studies, and investigations, and includes (i) the criteria used for the selection of the projects with their priorities; (ii) a list of the required projects for water, wastewater, and irrigation, grouped by WE, and by priority; (iii) the studies and works for implementing Artificial Aquifers Recharge; (iv) the required studies and works for improving and expanding the Meteorological and Hydrometric networks; (v) the implementation of a Project Management Unit (PMU); (vi) implementation the emergency action plan for improving the water governance; (vii) the required general geological and hydrogeological studies; and (2) Section B with the Appendices to proposed projects and provides additional details and justification for each of the proposed projects. The proposed projects are classified based on the following different level of priority (1)is for urgent projects to be implemented as soon as can be; (2) is for projects that are required but could be delayed if no possibility to implement them soon; and (3) is for projects that would be required in the future, based on the foreseen evolution of the present status of the water sector.
