Agricultural Policy Framework and Strategy (2016-2021).

This Agricultural Policy Framework and Strategy provides decisions and measures that impact the growth and development of agricultural sector. The Policy Framework and Strategy identifies the following priority areas: agriculture diversification, based on improved research and development; strengthening of banana industry; enhancement of National food and nutrition security; reduction in the food import bill; agro-processing and agri-business development; internal and foreign market development; development and strengthening of appropriate institutional structures; increasing youth and women involvement in agriculture; effective management and utilisation of fisheries resources; protection, conservation and sustainable utilisation of natural resources of land, water and forestry sectors; disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. For each priority area, the Policy provides a detailed analysis and targeted objectives and instruments for their achievement.
