Co-operative Societies Act, no. 16 of 2024.

This Act, divided into fifteen parts, provides for making new provisions with respect to registration, supervision, regulation, governance and procedural matters concerning cooperative societies. The Act defines cooperative principles, and covers the following matters: administration and administrative matters; registration and certification; incorporation duties and privileges; governance and management; misappropriation and other contraventions of the Act; membership and meetings; business of cooperative society, including: financial cooperative society; funds of cooperative society, and claims on crops or other agricultural produce, agricultural equipment, livestock and fish processing equipment; financial measures; examination and investigation, and role of the court; settlement of disputes, also concerning the disposal of agricultural produce or animal husbandry, and establishment of appeals tribunal; offences.
