Abstract
This Act, divided into six parts and consisting of 66 sections, grants an exclusive licence to the Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited, for the exercise and performance of functions relating to the supply of electricity, and for imposition of a fee on fuel purchased for the generation of electricity. The Act defines the following relevant terms: base price; consumer; Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited Company. Matters covered by this Act include: grant and revocation of licences to generate electricity; determination of fair market value; power and responsibilities of the Company; duty free importation of goods and treatment of losses; imposition of fee on fuel purchased for electricity production; acquisition and transfer of land; payment of compensation; permission to exploit hydropower; generation and supply of electricity and related charges; Company's liability for failure to supply electricity; arbitration and other methods to settle disputes; offences.
