Abstract
This Order, made under section 36 of the Plant Protection Act, introduces an areal spraying levy on all bananas exported from St.Lucia. The rate is prescribed in the Schedule. The levy shall be paid by companies licensed to trade in the export of bananas in such manner as the Minister may direct. The monies so produced shall be used to defray costs of areal spraying by the Government and to establish technical competence for the purpose of pest surveillance. The Order, in its last amended version, includes measures for regulating pests defined in the attached schedules and a list of bodies and authorities empowered to revise the levy.
