Abstract
This National Energy Action Plan, designed to keep Saint Lucia’s National Energy Policy (NEP) on track for achieving the country’s vision of the energy sector in 2030, consists of three sections: 1) description of governance framework, timed actions, and institutional responsibilities supporting the NEP’s goals; 2) monitoring and evaluation framework; 3) risk analysis and institutions responsible for risk management. Concerning the goals and the supported objectives and related actions, this Action Plan focuses on: overall development of renewable energy sources; reducing the environmental impact of electricity production and distribution; making reduction in energy intensity a key driver of the energy sector’s decarbonisation; decarbonisation of transport sector; ensuring a safe, reliable, and affordable supply of petroleum products along with their efficient storage, handling, and use during the transition phase; integration of social and gender aspects in the development of the energy sector; facilitating access to financing for renewable energy and energy-efficiency measures.
