Abstract
The Act makes provision for a national water policy and for the establishment of the Water and Sewerage Authority.
The text is divided into 5 Parts: Preliminary (I); National Policy and Establishment of the Water and Sewerage Authority (II); Functions and Powers of the Authority (III); Finance (IV); Transitional and Miscellaneous (V).
If the Authority deems necessary to do so, it may declare an area which is a gathering ground for water. In that area extra protection measures decided by the Authority will apply (sect. 8). It can also request the Chief Forest Officer for action under the Forest, Soil and Water Conservation Ordinance.
